Thanks for the script Mike. Was a real challenge getting it up on my server (perms and owners). Also the forecast would not work at all on my system until I changed the owner to _www, combined with a 777 finally made the spaceweather-current.txt update. If I might make a suggestion for future file structure, might be to assign a single directory for the script php files and with it's own image cache subdirectory as well, or even one directory for the scripts and another for the caches at the same level of root like my radar directories. Would be a lot easier to manage all the files. my .02
Love the script though! :)
Many thanks

I had been dealing with the error 003 for a while now, and finally decided to figure out what was wrong with my page.  When I first put the page up it worked fine but then in Feburary '10 it stopped working.  I don't know what caused it to go haywire it just did.  Since that time I have occasionally went to the page and always the same result error 003.

How I solved the problem on my site was to just delete all the .jpg, and cached.gif files associated with each of the .php files for the space weather.  I also deleted the .txt file.  I then went to my site refreshed the page and everything is up to date and working now.

Just an FYI for anyone else out there having error 3 problems.  YMMV

Thanks for the great script!!!

Mike, is there a way to capture the 019 code and display "Image Not Currently Available" or something to that effect?

Hi,
I have difficulties getting spaceweather-current to work.

Wxspace doesn't print The 3-day forecast.
It does print the forecast occasionally. Most of the time, it doesn't

I have been trying out everything suggested here. Torjan (www.regnskvett.com) has helped alot. I got his script without any luck.
The last thing I did was to copy all the files (exept wxspace) to a folder called wxspace and change permissions to 777 for the folder and also all the files. All the links to the files have been change according to the new folder.

The *.txt file is created when I load the space page but without any content. When it's created I changed the permission to 777.

So I have a page with a 3 day forecast normally not showing (just from time to time)

Any ideas?

If it is not showing just some of the time, then the issue is likely a timeout from your webserver trying to access the page required and store it in the cache.

Hi,
No it is most of the time.
This timeout, is this something it is possible to adjust?

My wxspace.php stopped working for some reason.  Not sure why.  The cached images are on the server, but they stopped updating in July.  Same with the text.  I'm using e-rice.net as my host.  Any ideas why this happened?  Maybe a permissions issue?

Thanks.

Check all folder and file permissions, I found that they did not migrate when the server swaps were done, especially check the permission of your /web root folder, mine was reset also, causes a lot of things to stop working including the space weather and the who's online updates of the GeoLite data.

What should the /web folder permissions be?  Also, what should the permissions be for the files associated with wxspace.php?

I set my root folder at CHMOD 777(drwxrwxrwx), the cache files for the images are owned by the script (user 99) and are automatically CHMOD 644(-rw-r--r--).

I also had to change the url for the one image: from http://www.swpc.noaa.gov/SWN/mlso_halpha_sm.gif   to  http://download.hao.ucar.edu/d5/www/latestsmall.disk.gif . It looks like NOAA stopped carrying that image but HAO, where it was coming from, still displays it at the second url.

That's at line 140 in the image-space-solar-disk.php script, that'll get rid of the error 18.
You might have to go in and kill off the cached.jpg/gif files and the output jpg/gif files and let them recreate if they have been corrupted.

If you are having problems with the images, you can also see if the image url in the image-space scripts actually sends you to an image, if not you might have to do what I did and do a bit of snooping.
