Version: 2.00 - 13-Jun-2010 - added OAuth/Twitter authentication (TweetWX642) because user/password authentication is being disallowed after June 30th, 2010 (Thanks to Joe Chung and Ken True for providing the auth code)

Twitter usage:
See readme.txt inside TweetWX642 folder

[EDIT] - Nevermind.  I figured it out.  It helps to real ALL of the instructons.   :D

I seem to be having problems getting the new OAuth to work properly.  I have tried it three different times and it just isn't working for me.  For the forecast messenger, I receive this message:

Twitter: (Login failed, no twitter was sent)
Thornton, CO Forecast for Today: Severe Tstms 76F/57F, Tomorrow: Mostly Sunny 80F/55F #weather http://bit.ly/sotC9
Twitter message length: 114

The setup is pretty straightforward so I have no idea what I am doing wrong.  Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Have you gotten the authorization code from the WD setup?  It's a 7 digit code that's generated by Twitter when you push the button on the twitter setup page in WD that says 'setup oauth for first time users' or something to that effect.

I went thru the steps (actually 3 times in 2 days to be sure I read all the instructions and followed them...

When I ran the scripts -- it appeared "all was good" -- emails were processed, but tweets weren't twitted.
Then I saw a setting "debug" and now I see:

Code: [Select]
Twitter: { "request": "\/1\/statuses\/update.json", "error": "Incorrect signature" }
I have verified that I copied/pasted the code correctly between the three tweetwx642 scripts & twitter pages...

Is there a clue I could buy from someone?

Hi all,

I had the same problem when I tried to replicate this script as you jassing. But I downloaded the script again and started from scratch and, indeed, it worked both on Facebook and Twitter. Amazingly, I managed to set up cron and everything. I hardly knew what cron was before I started with this "project". Really fun. But as always, help here on the forum is completely outstanding.

Thanks Mike for your great script and for your excellent instructions.

Regards
Jan-Ove

Thanks.
"8th time is a charm"?
I can only guess that there is timing and/or cookies involved between getting the pin & finishing the process.

I did it slow and methodical -- fail.  I did it quick (heck, I'd done it 7 times now) and it worked.  I saved all the files, did it slow & methodical -- and - fail...

so I finally got it -- but there seems to be something else getting involved.

Issue here. Since my server switch I get around every 12 hours a double posting
of the conditions.

I've got 1 cron job for it. 1 wd-conditions-messenger.php file but I still get
the 2nd tweet and or email. The conditions on it arent even correct.
Any way to figure out where the heck it's coming from?

Thanks!

Frustration has set in. Went through the Tweet Auth process last night and got new
keys for it to post. Still getting the stray twitter posts from wd-messenger.

I'm out of ideas where to find where there may be another copy of wd-conditions-messenger somewhere.

I know this doesn't help -- but it took me a few run thrus to get it going.  I had written down the steps I was taking to make sure I was following the instructions (I was) -- one time thru - didn't work; the next time; magically(?) it worked...
There seemed to be some timing involved in getting done in under-x-minutes for all the auth stuff to take...
Once I got it going, it hasn't missed a tweet.

I may have solved it. I went into Twitter and revoked the privileges for the script.

Went through the Tweet Auth process again and so far so good with no
weird condition Tweets right now.

I noticed that my Twitter account was no longer receiving the conditions or the forecast conditions tweets.  I went into Twitter thinking I would redo the authorization and found that "PHP Scripts by Mike Challis by 642weather.com" is listed as "Suspended."  See the attached screenshot.

Anyone else seeing this?

Curious -- I just looked at my twitter account - and mike's is suspended -- but what's odd is that my app isn't -- but it stopped getting updates on the 14th....
