Special characters like the degree symbol included in some tags can cause problems with website coding, and any units need to be stripped out before a value can be used in a calculation. Fortunately WD has a setting to eliminate the units from all tags giving the user complete control over the presentation of values.

Control Panel > Web Files/Web Page > Custom webpage setup 

Uncheck the checkbox for "Include the units used"

Won't that also affect existing uses of those tags requiring recoding everything that uses them previously?
