I have just moved from a PC to a smart new iMac and have installed version 10.37L Weather Display. The problem now is that the station is not communicating with the program. I have connected the WMR968 to the iMac with the same RS232/USB connector I used with the PC and installed the drivers but there is no communication between the two. When I click on com port in the WD control panel it gives me two options for two bluetooth  ports but no mention of the USB/RS232 connection. Any thoughts on how to get the communication going?

try
run
ls /dev/tty.*

from a terminal window
then enter the needed driver into the com port window, manual entry

That's a big red flag.  Laughing You will need a Mac driver from the manufacturer for the usb/serial connector.
There are many posts on this around here so I won't bore with the details, but without a modern driver specifically for OS X, you will need another connection method. All of us with the Keyspan adapters (and the driver) have never had a problem. You definitely get what you pay for in these adapters.  I believe we have the same setups so don't hesitate to shout out for help should you need it.

...and Welcome to WD Mac! Smile

Hi jmar,

I think you sourced the problem I do have an old adapter that worked ok on the PC but may not be suitable for the imac. I have looked online and see the Keyspan USA-19HS adapter. Is this the model you suggest? There was some feedback on the site which said they had problems using it with an Intel based imac running Leopard mine is running OS X 10.5.7 A browse of the Tripp.Lite site has drivers for Mac OS X but no mention of any intel issues. Do you see this as a problem? Are there any other options which I could consider?

Thanks for you help.

Hi Wriggley,
I have not heard of any issues with the Keyspan USA-19HS adapter with any version of the OS from 10.5.2 when I started using it until now. Was the issue you read about to do with selection of the port? I can't seem to find the post.

Mine has been working flawlessly ever since I hooked the station up last June. Runs great and I would recommend it. It just looks like a cable end connector and has a green LED that flashes when it is not communicating, steady when it is. There a number of us here with the adapter and we only hear good things about it.
Enjoy the iMac! Smile

All the best,
Jmar

Hi Jmar,

My Keyspan USA 19HS arrived in the post today. The drivers supplied with the adapter did not work so I downloaded an updated version from the TRIPP.LITE site and it connected with the WMR 968 a treat. So can say for sure that the keyspan works with an Intel iMac running Leopard 10.5.7

Now I have to figure out how to transfer the data files from my PC

Thanks for your fine advice

copy the data files from the pc to
/Library/Application Support/wdisplay/datafiles/

and similar for the logfiles ( to /logfiles/)
and the wdisplay.ini file can be copied to , to /Library/Application Support/wdisplay/ ,(rename as WDISPLAY.INI)
