Guys,
Been over 2 yrs since I ve been here. Believe it or not I am still using my first & only weather station the infamous WM918. I've had it over 5 yrs & its never missed a beat EXCEPT for tonight. I came home & there was no data upload going on. I thought it might have been the COMM port that had carked it, so I hooked the cable up to another port. No go. I fossiked around for a spare controller that I had ( i bought 3 WM918's from Ebay many yrs ago for spares). Hooked it up & it started to work again. It was then I noticed that the original controller seemed to have locked up, so I took out the batteries & put them back , fired it up again & it now works. There had been a power outage today, so maybe it freaked out or something, who knows. But its now working well.
Just out of interest, is anyone still using a WM918??
cheers
I have 4 WM918's at different locations. One has been running continuously for 9 years. The other 3 between 6 and 7 years.
I have had to renew 1 Temp/humidity sensor due to an abraded cable, 1 rain gauge which failed to record, and 1 anemometer/wind direction unit on which the bearings for the anemometer partially seized.
Interestingly enough all the faults were at one location, the other 3 stations have been problem free.
