Entering Lat & Long
« on: September 30, 2008, 10:12:52 PM »
I am using Weather Display to send data to CWOP.  I have a probalem with my lat & long.  In the software there are 3 boxes for lat and 3 for long.  My lat & long is 40.77276 & 74.14091. How do I read and enter this in the software. Please help!

Use the (pink) decimal to degrees, minutes, seconds converter on this page and enter the three values in those boxes. Pay attention to the notes on the Weather Display screen about entering values as + or - depending on your location.

I can vouch for that oversight.  I had my station in China... LOL

I downloaded the VWS APRS software from the Ambient site.

I am able to configure it and upload data, but I can't figure out how to accurately enter my latitude and longitude. I am at
37.94  |  -121.75  SF Bay area.

The software only allows you to enter a positive values, so I can not enter the -121. If I use just 121, I end up a very long way from the correct location.

Any suggestions?

Try entering them in exactly opposie order you have previously entered. I am not familiar with the software you refer to so this is a guess.
