Icon of current weather with WDL and WDconsole
« on: August 31, 2008, 03:18:54 AM »
I still don't understand how the "instIcons" works with WDL and WDconsole (I'm using a Davis Vantage Pro2™ and WDconsole) because icon do not show what it should:

I disconnect the Davis Forecast because it is not supported by WDConsole, so I just want to show the icon of current condition. This is my setting :

<ShowDavisForecast>0</ShowDavisForecast>
<SwitchForecastIcon>0</SwitchForecastIcon>
<auto>0</auto>

<instIcons>
(...)
<show>1</show>

Is it correct?

Looks OK to me at the moment. It would help if you could give examples of how the icon that is being displayed doesn't match what is in the clientraw.txt.

What I have to check in the clientraw.txt?

If my config is OK, icon showing "cloud and rain" should not be shown when it is sunny without cloud under 32C (89.6F)! ;-)

You can use the parser http://www.tnetweather.com/wd-parser.php to check the clientraw. Looks like field 49 is driving the conditions icon. Right now you have a rain icon, and this is 49.

049 Weather Desc L Rain/Night time

Now, if it's not actually raining then that would be a WD problem.

Exact, I have "Rain/Night time" but it is not raining and my wireless Davis console do not show rain too ...

I see that

048 Icon Type Z 1 (Clear Night)

and

049 Weather Desc L Rain/Night time

don't match.

We need Softvark/Julian to confirm which one is supposed to drive the WDL icon, but it's looking like a WDConsole rather than WDL problem to me.

Have you got Icons Ignore Keywords Conditions in the Configurator basic tab ticked? If you haven't I suspect WDL is picking up the keyword 'rain' and using this to override the WD icons value. Ticking this option would force WDL to only use the value being sent from WD which, in this case, would give you the correct icon but there's still the underlying problem of WD sending 2 different weather conditions -

"Ticking this option" ... what option? In fact, I set the file manually. What is the option you talk about?

I was referring to the WDL Configurator application. If you're not using the Configurator look for this line in the wdlconfig.xml file and set it to 1

<ignoreIconKeywords>1</ignoreIconKeywords>

Worked for a while, but now I have a moon, it is 2pm ... !

048   Icon Type   Z   1 (Clear Night)
049   Weather Desc   L   Rain/Night time

Timezone here is -4, perhaps there is something wrong in this case with WDconsole?

There's definitely something wrong with what WD is sending.  #-o

I don't see your lat/long in the clientraw file:

Quote
160   Latitude (- for southern hemisphere)   T   0.0
161   Longitude (- for EAST of GMT)   T   0.0

Did you set your lat/lon in WD?

I'm using WDconsole, and yes I've set long and lat. Should be a bug.
