Yes..Im still fighting with my sitemap..lol i removed my robots.txt file completely to see if google would take my sitemap then, and just got this from google..

Network unreachable: robots.txt unreachable
We were unable to crawl your Sitemap because we found a robots.txt file at the root of your site but were unable to download it. Please ensure that it is accessible or remove it completely.

I dont see how google found it on my site, i removed it 2 days ago..lol

So need less to say...My sitemap is still not validating.  #-o

Ive tried both...Google prefers the Capital. I just tested my sitemap through google and got this...

Sitemap: http://www.snoqualmieweather.com/Sitemap.xml         Valid Sitemap reference detected

But it wont Validate it... makes no sense to me.

I'm not sure if this is possible, but Is there any way for someone else to test a sitemap through google to see if it works? i keep getting this error still..

URL timeout: robots.txt timeout

Even If I remove the robots.txt file I get the same error. It all started when i moved to e-rice a few weeks back. i use a program to make my sitemap, and also tried the old way "link style" and google still says it has errors in it. I'm not sure if its the way I'm uploading it, or if e-rice for some reason is causing the problems. I'm just completely lost at this point. Ive tried everything possible. Now I'm blaming either e-rice or google for the problems...lol

Any help or advice on this would be great...Thanks, Mark.

It's very strange, carterlake who started all this uses e-rice so it must work there. Maybe open a ticket with e-rice to see if you somehow got a robots.txt in the directory above /web ?

i'll try another ticket. Last time i asked them, they said it was me. But at this point, I doubt it.
Quick question..Im at work and cant remember, is the login PW to e-rice the same as the PW you use to FTP to the site? if its not, I have to rquest a new PW to login in there from work. I sure dont want to reset the PW if it also resets the FTP password...lol

No, FTP isn't the member login.

I broke down and purchased a piece of of software from XML-sitemaps.com. It creates four different types of sitemaps, text, Ror, html, xml, it can include image information if you want and after completion it pings the major search engines to let them know it's available. There are about 40 different settings you can modify/customize.
I use a cron job to run this once a day.

Hopefully you didn't pay too much for it.

too bad you have a missing xsl template that prevents you sitemap.xml from loading.

404: Page missing: http://www.daculaweather.com./pages/mods/sitemap.xsl

You really should not need a style for your sitemap.

Also, your frequency should be adjusted for each page based on what it actually does, not all set to the same like daily.

As well as the priority.  You have every page set the same which means you have no priority pages and no low priority pages.  This will prevent your site from ever getting sitelinks with Google.

an badly constructed sitemap.xml is not much better than a non-existing one.

It should be http://www.daculaweather.com/generator/pages/mods/sitemap.xsl

Not sure about the priority thing, I see different priorities on the files in the sitemap file.

A sitemap should not be a stylesheet...

You can create a stylesheet to make a sitemap human readable, but for robots to crawl pages they look for sitemap.xml or any variant of a compressed version of sitemap (sitemap.gz, etc).

If you go here:

http://www.daculaweather.com/sitemap.xml

...then it will be readable when you browse to it likely because of the xsl file you've created.  Some site authors don't wish that to be the case; it makes it too easy for others to scrape pages with easy references within.
