USB to Serial issues ... openSuSE v10.3

Hi,
I have a 1 wire setup running fine under oww and now am trying to get Wdisplay up and running. However I am unable to get my head around the USB to Serial mapping stuff under Control Panel.
I have chmod'ed the usb ports so that is not the issue. The system reads just fine under OWW.
Any help would be most appreciated.
