what they did here is dump a lot of gravel .. lime stone in.. anyway.. here, the water level is down and the water has or is due to stop coming over the spillway...   I suppose the drought settles in.

I know that the garden  is getting dry.. which is hard to believe, but it has to be going somewhere..

Revised my web pages .. the rain detail now shows surplus and deficits..

I was just thinking today the yard is getting dry.  BUt Relize I have sand for soil.  then I walk 200 feet and look over the hill and still see Water.

I hate mowing yard anyway so not concerned

I walk 200 feet and fall over..  no.. actually  the lawn needs it but I am content on letting it go for a few days.  Letting the doggie poops  dry out ..

I figure that the difference between me and the flood plain by the Des Moines, changes elevation 150 feet according to the contour level.  haven't figured from the Raccoon  but we are high enough ...

One of the big issues here are people who had their homes flooded are moving away, not cleaning them out, just leaving it all and going on.  I suppose there are laws and rules on that, but many just are abandoning their homes .. http://www.desmoinesregister.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20080622/NEWS/806220326

Did you see the latest 5 day precip forecast? Crazy weather as I'm sitting here with less than 2 inches of rain for the month when many neighboring stations have had much more and some a lot more. But I'd rather have this than the torrential rains and subsequent flood that folks endured in IA, WI, IN, and portions of southeast IL.

I finished updating my site and redid my rain data..  Mediacom gives 60mb of space , divided into 10mb segments.. so using another of them  I have it on this : http://home.mchsi.com/~toubes1
it is accessible from the main page, but this has the weather stuff.

yes, I am bored.. wife is due in at 11:30 .. glad Fleur Drive is open

I go to the local NOAA page to check the forecast , not that WD's isn't the same..

but came across this http://www.crh.noaa.gov/crnews/display_story.php?wfo=dmx&storyid=15542&source=0

which shows the rainfall totals for the first 15 days of June.  It shows Des Moines with six inches, but I got 9.57 inches of rain..   hence the idea of CoCoRaHS and mesonet getting a bigger picture,  which is something we all contribute to by various methods and locations.

 interesting though

That article seems to displace your distrust in the Corps.
