Connecting WS-2310 to Mac via USB-serial adapter
« on: January 10, 2006, 12:29:49 PM »
I'm just setting up my weather station and I'm trying to link my Mac to the base unit using a USB serial connector (a Radio Shack adapter using Prolific's PL-2303 chip and the latest driver). The software is Open2300, but I'm not getting any joy in completing the connection - every command hangs. I'm not sure whether this is due to a hardware problem or is a software issue, but on another site I was told that the WS-2310 takes its RS-232 power from the connector rather than internally. Has anyone successfully connected a Mac to a WS-2310 with a USB-serial connection? If so, was any additional hardware required?

did you ever get a satisfactory solution? i am trying to connect my iMac to my 2s-2310, also, with no luck. i suspect my problem may be that I am using a usb/serial adapter that i got with my Palm many years ago.
