Ok guys please be gentle with me....
Purchased my WMR100 & downloaded the free software... but I have a Intel Mac..... so installed it on Parallels just fine but it crashes or goes "flat line" after a few hours. Nicked the kids Windoze machine & it works fine on that one so it indicates weather station & software stable - fault must be in Parallels. Tried the mac version on my Imac & Powerbook & I can't get either to load. Done the usb patch, followed the instructions regarding reboot etc & the programme just won't load. On the Windoze version the logo comes on and a bar goes from left to right, the Imac shows the logo & disappears & the powerbook just reports an error. I am happy to buy the software if I can get it to work....aaaggghhhh Sorry got a little carried away then!
Thanks in anticipation.

You should be able to run WD on your Mac.  Did you follow the instructions in the README.txt file included with the package?

Stay calm, just do the following:
I assume you've done the setup operations from the README.
open e terminal window (the README file tells you the HOWTO) then run  WeatherD and post the error messages.

Edit :

Please Niko can you move this into a new thread? or should we start e new one?

Thanks guys for the quick response.
Yes I have followed the instructions but I am not sure what you mean by "e terminal"?
The setup terminal returned this.

Here's something you can try...

Shutdown WD.
Power down Mac.
Remove power and batteries from WMR console, wait 5 minutes, then re-apply power and insert batteries.
Power up the Mac.
Start WD.
Once WD is fully up and running, go to view -> ftp log.  Use the close button on the ftp log window, you should see a WMR window open.
Click on the Button 1 button.

See if you get any data from the WMR.  See attached screen grab for what mine looks like...

The problem is WD won't start so I am unable to look at the log. If I could get it to start on either the Imac or Powerbook then I could investigate further. Could it be a issue with some of my mac hardware?

Could be a permission problem.  If you have a logmein account I could use that to connect to your machine and have a look.  Or I have an account you can use to add your computer to my account.  I only use this account for helping WD folks.  PM me if you want to do this.

I don't think it is a mac hardware problem

hi all,

Newbie question here. I've just received a WMR100N from the Mrs., very nice gift, and I'd like to get it working with my Intel Mac. I've downloaded the WD software, ran the installer, and looked at the README, which mentions installing software from Apple's usbdebug page. I have a copy of the IOUSBFamily software which has IOUSBFamily-$version-log.pkg and IOUSBFamily-$version.pkg, the README's of both say "This is the version of the IOUSBFamily that shipped with Mac OS X 10.5.6 (9G55)..." with logging enabled or not. I'm wondering if I've got the correct pkg at all here. A bit confusing.

Thanks!

I dont think it matters if the version you install has logging or not
the main thing is to get the version that matches your OSX version
(and back up important data first)

thanks Brian ;-)

newbie question #2: I quit WD and disconnect the WMR100 from the computer, and I get two usbreader processes running away. Console says:

[0x0-0x2c12c1].WeatherD te Erro Invalid argumentUSBWrite Write Erro Invalid argumentUSBWrite Write Erro Invalid argumentUSBWrite Write Erro Invalid argumentUSBWrite Write Erro Invalid argument (repeats ~100 times)

is this expected behavior?

killing the processes isn't the question. The question is, is this expected behavior?

I'm trying to get WD and my WMR100 running, have tried everything I can find so far with no luck.  The one thing I could not do was download the USB debug file from Apple.  I'm running 10.5.6 and the files only go to 10.5.5 and when I tried that file it locked up my mac.  Kept telling me I needed to restart and no matter what I did, restart, turn off, unplug I kept getting the same message at bootup "Need to restart" couldn't start up and had to reinstall OS before it would work again.  Any ideas?
