Home Server
« on: November 01, 2011, 02:43:17 PM »
Hi
not sure if this is posted in the correct section, but here goes any way.
i have , with allotof help from Brian (windy) got my station working spot on. the info is loaded to my very basis web page, btu it works. the only fault i have with it, is that i do not like leaving my computer on all the time.
ideally i would like to have a small server at home, that takes the data from my logger, and then just uploads to my web site.
so, the questions are these:
1. has any one done this?
2. if yes, how did you do it?
3. if no, then can it be done? and how?

many thanks

keith.
Cheers
Keith

There are many users who are running low power PC's, <20 watts, 24x7 for WD, if that's the kind of thing you are thinking of.

Not sure if you mean a home web server or just a low power pc to run WD, I've been running WD on a fit-pc2 http://www.fit-pc.com/web/ for about 2 years almost 24/7 with no problems, i think it uses between 6-8w, I upload data to my website every 1min to webhost e-rice who only charge $10 a year (don't know how they do it at that price)
