How do I delete/change bad data?
« on: December 25, 2007, 10:30:04 AM »
Since I have some bad data occuring when stopping/starting WD, I thought I could correct that. I stopped WD, and then went and edited the following files:
122007log.txt
122006extralog.csv
122007vantagelog.txt
indoorlog.txt

I even deleted the first few days of data, leaving the first data on Dec 21. But, strangely enough, when I restart WD I still see this old bad data. Where did WD hide the data for me?? Is it not possible to change data in this way?

You may want to scan through this FAQ to see if that gives you a clue.

Hi Jim,

Yes I had already looked at that, but it did not help (and it seems to be referring also to an older version of WD). And when I use the View Log file function, everything before 21.45 on Dec 21 is gone. But the data is still shown in the diagram. Strange!

OK, there is a lot to explore in WD. First I found the function Action/View and Modify Log file. There I could delete the bad lines.
Then I found the function Action/Convert Log file to Graphs. There, I could recreate the graphs (which I learnt are stored in inf files). And now the spike for outdoor temperature and humidity are gone. :)

The only problem left concerns the Extra temp and Hum sensors. They are stored in the 122007extralog.csv, which can not be edited through the Modify/Log function. OK, I can edit the csv file in another program. But I can not Convert a csv log file to Graphs :( So I am left with some ugly spikes still  :(

Brian,

As written elsewhere, the bad data is now occurring any longer, thanks.

However, I have OLD bad data for extra sensors that I want to correct. But the correction function only works with txt log files, and not the csv file for extralogs. No big problem, but "a place for improvement".
