I also use the "powerline" system for extending the network they run at 85mbs and supply the webserver from the router. They have been running for over a year 24/7 and never a hiccup....."touch wood"

I have the exact same problem and i need the correct RS232 to 3.5mm cable as well.

I emailed Bashy, but did not got any response :(

Maybe i need more patience, but i am anxious to solve this problem  #-o

Anyway, great forum here!
I am a weather enthousiast myself as well and i have some equipment.
I live in the Netherlands.

Hi

Sorry i didnt get back to you via email, i forgot  #-o

You may be able to get better advice than i did from maplin?

I could not get the VEO to work untill i bought a second one of eBay that came with the lead....

If i was you though, i would not bother with the VEO, its not the best camera (QUALITY)  and
you need a special activeX control for IE (which i do have somewhere) and it dont work with
firefox....

If your not bothered too much about quality then as a PoV cam its not a total wash out as long as
you dont use the zoom feature
Kind regards

Simon

Hey Bashy!

Thanks for getting back in touch with me.
I used the VEO Observer for quite some time now for home and office surveillance.
It worked perfectly fine, and i was quite surprised with image and sound quality.
The camera is in excellent condition, thats why i am really sad i can't get it to work only because of that stupid RS232 cable.
I think you have sold your VEO setup?
What exactly is Maplin and how could they help me?

Thanks again!

Djurre

Ah sorry, Maplin is a UK electronics company maplin.co.uk

You can buy the cable needed but then you have to configure the pins correctly and this
i couldnt do and gave up on it....

I glad you have had a good experience with yours though and yeah, i got rid of mine sorry...
Kind regards

Well, i don't know why, but i bought a RS232 to 3.5mm cable and it worked immediately.
Maybe you tried the wrong software a few years ago, you need the software that uses the com port for making settings in the camera.

So i think the Veo Wireless Observer uses a standard RS232 to 3.5mm cable after all.

This is the cable i bought: http://www.memoryforless.co.uk/store/erol.html#935X51943

Hi

The cable i bought didnt work for me :(

I didnt have the right software running though, 2 were installed, one for the running of the cam
and one for the settings side of things, either the cable was a dud or one of the pins was not connected
or was connected depending on the way round the VEO needed it, i was just unlucky i suppose
but like i said i did buy another VEO and that came with the cable and i was cheap :)

Im glad it all worked out ok for you though, including your cam's quality.... :)
Kind regards

I was amazed it worked immediately, however, my old laptop has two comports, on com1 it didn't work, on com2 it did work.
With Veo Wireless Observer utility it did not work with another version of the software it did work.
So i guess some combinations of software, computer com ports and cable must be right, otherwise it won't work.

O well, i'm happy.
The camera is going to Spain to my parents holiday house for surveillance purpose.
