WS2300 or 2308 and cable question.
« on: June 24, 2007, 12:39:38 PM »
Hello,
I'd got a BAR629- Easy Weather System Pro from Oregon almost 2 years ago but its outside temperature sensor rusted and no longer works. So I thought I was about time I got a new weather station. I'm a student taking Geography (going into 4Th year after the summer) so I'm hoping getting a more advance weather station will teach me more on the subject. I've been looking at the WS2300 and WS2308 I'm thinking about going for the WS2300 since it's £50 or so cheaper than the WS2308. From what I can tell the screen on the WS2308 isn't much bigger can anyone confirm this? I'd also like to link it up my server which is 20meters away from where I'd be putting the base in my bedroom. Could I use RJ11 for this IE.. RJ11 goes into the base, then 20meters later it plugs into a RJ11 Coupler then the serial cable (what looks like a RJ11 end) goes into the other side of the coupler and the serial cable goes into a serial of my server. Would this setup work? or would I need to link two 10meter serial extensions together.
Many thanks in advance
Andrew
