O/T - I think Great Britain and The British Isles are synonomous? with the Union Jack flag, (just as Ye Olde Country ;) ) While England refers specifically to the land within the borders... and has a different flag even  - red cross on white background (St George Cross) and the red rose is the emblem...  I think I'm probably nearly correct.

<EDIT> O/T still - as it turns out, Great Britain as for the United Kingdom is selected elements that belong to the Commonwealth only, some islands are excluded (Isle of Man, Orkney Islands etc), yet I believe the British Isles is a general term and includes all of the associated islands belonging or not to the Commonwealth. </EDIT>

I've always wondered the difference also.  Found this on Wikipedia.  Kinda puts in focus for me.

Now back to the question.  What would you like to know about building the shield?  Not that I have build one...  #-o

Would those of you who have built one build one again knowing how well (or not) it works?

It's good to know that the effort going towards building the screen is worth it!   :D

I was using the solar panel and fan from Maplins (UK) but as i dont get much sun in the back
garden i resorted to powering the fan from a 3v psu, but low an behold, yesterday the fan
stopped, must have burnt it out #-o, anyway, went back out there today and exchanged the
fan for a 12v PC fan and have it running at 4.5v looks to be slow enough and hopefully wont
have any more issues with the fan...

I am most certainly going to build a new 1 ready for the summer and hopefully learn from my
mistakes  i.e. dont put on the filler too thick (still aint set now pmsl.....) dont use
candle wax (cracks in cold weather) buy enough paint and dont rush the damn job
thats just me all over, so impatient #-o

Well done Bashy - yes I will be using a spare fan from an old Celeron box lying around and running at 5 or 6 volts continuous.  But when I do that, I may have to pull my screened CAT5 cables as well - it never stops...

I did build mine with a PC fan running on 7.5V 24/7

Very smooth temp curves now, just pulled a 1.5mm pair cable out to the unit and placed in a conduit with the other wires...

Cables will be tidied shortly and fed by conduit all the way, but this may not be for the folks running wireless systems where they need solar powered fans.
