Has anyone found a solution to the databackup crashing?

Not having any problems with it here.  Anything in the log that shows a problem?  Maybe post a screen shot of the backup setup screen.

Backup is working fine for me also. In addition to the backup to another PC on my network, I upload the file to my web site.

i suspect for people not able to run wd's databackup, its a case of some security on the pc (firewall or virus checking) or similar

Turning off DEP for datazipbackup.exe seems to have fixed it.

Turning off DEP for datazipbackup.exe seems to have fixed it.

??? DEP  ??? :?

I am having some *intermittant* problems with datazipbackup.exe.  Seems to occur every week to 10 days, during the sched. backup.  Biggest problem is when it bombs it takes the current zip file with it (databackup12007.zip)!
As to getting it running again, it seems that that's pretty random too.  Shutting down WD (and associated programs and restarting OR even rebooting the PC, don't seem to have any effect. If I bring it up from control panel, and can hit the backup now button before it crashes, it seems to work for days.  The only "odd" thing that I notice is that when it's died, when I bring it up the "file" box says "ZIPTEST.ZIP" not "D:\wdisplay\databackup\...".
(Note: this was with 10.36 Y Bld. 10) the last time it died, I tried about 10 times to "fix" it, couldn't hit the backup now button before it croaked.  I then updated to 10.36 X Bld 10, and its been working since.

I have already excluded ALL of my \wdisplay directory and each of the individual exe programs in \wdisplay from Norton ( YAH, YAH, I know NORTON SUCKS!! :( I have a little over a month left on SystemWorks 2006 subscription, and from what I have seen of NAV2007, I won't be renewing OR upgrading, I'll be REMOVING!  Still thinking about what I'll be replacing it with....) #-o

the ziptest.zip will occur if the date stamped datafiles are not found where the program is checking for them

DEP is "Data Execution Prevention" I beleive it is turned on by default in windows XP sp2

go to the control panel -> System -> Advanved Tab -> Performance settings

On the DEP tab select turn on DEP for all programs except those I select, then choose add and browse to the WD folder and click on datazipbackup.exe
choose apply and reboot for it to take affect

Checked my DEP settings and its set to "Turn on DEP for essential Windows programs and services".
The dailybackup works fine here under WinXPsp2.

My automatic backup worked this evening. Excluding it in the DEP config seems to have fixed  "MY issue"

Like NorCal Dan, my DEP is set to "Turn on DEP for essential Windows programs and services".  The back up last "hung" on 1/09/07.  I got it running again, and it has been fine until the morning at 0855.  I slept in and found it "hung" with the "report to MS..." error message.
Before I did anything else, I went to my wdisplay/databackup dir and noted that databackup12007.zip was no where to be found! I cleared the MS error box, and then went right back in to WD CP and databackup, and hit the backup now button.  That worked.

So it looks like it will run for awhile, before it hangs.  It also looks like it's deleteing the current month backup zip file before it "hangs".  Possible it running low on memory, but I have a Gig of ram.

note sure about the run for a while before hanging bit, as its not running all the time, that databack up program..its a separate .exe that is called when needed, and then it closes
