Sunshine hours 1st day of the Month
« on: November 01, 2006, 02:26:28 PM »

the Sunshine hours on the 1st day of the Month are not the same,
this is happening for the last few month.
On the first day of the month the hours should be the same,
Hours Today and Hours Month, I had a look on other Sites and have seen
I am not the only one with this little problem.

            Cheers, Rolf.
All the best, Rolf.

Confirmed here.  I have not had enough sunshine today to register any hours.  Looks like the month tag didn't reset at the midnight rollover.

Mine are messed up as well but today I have 7.2 hours and the total for the month is 4.9! Where did WD get that silly figure from? Certainly not last month!

i am sorry that you think its silly stuart

the sunshine hours total for the month is rest at 9:15am on the first day of the month
so that for 9am reset time, it is not reset before the reports for the month just finished are completed

it will mean a couple of hours will be lost though...
what i will do is then set it to the current day total at that point...that will be the solution

Sorry Brian I forgot you had told me that before. I dont understand why the reset cannot be the same as other reset times either 09:00 or 00:01 (23:59), just seems to me that all reset times should be consistent. My reset time is midnight, everything else resets OK at midnight and the month totals are generally calculated OK so why the difference for sunshine hours? You have a log file which is created at midnight and contains 31 lines of data for the month so you can get the months sunshine by totalling the data in here, plus in summer months you could lose maybe 5 hours of sunshine from the month total. Also I dont see any reports in my folders which were created later than about 00:09 this morning.

next update and the reset is a reset to the current days total

the other reason i had it at that time, was for when people dont have WD running overnight, as long as they started it up before 9am, it would get reset, if it was the 1st of the month
there is reason in my madness

I understand why Brian but all the other resets happen OK when you have the PC off overnight during the archive processing, and appear to happen in the correct sequence. All that is except month end sunshine hours as this explains why in my bug report in the tracker that after a crash when my PC was restarted after month end at about 14:00 or so the sunshine hours did not reset. In my experience this is just about the only thing which does not happen as expected.

If you were to change this to the normal reset time and add the solar reset to the archive processing as you do with all the other cumulative ones like rain then I think we would have everything working as it would be expected.

While this issue concerns the 1st of the Month. I am still having the issue with the time being shown as Possible Daylight Hours Today (Hours:Minutes)     0-14:0-17. Any idea what is causing this? I am using 10.36U version, and have restarted my computer from scratch since installing the updated files.

from another thread, and the bug tracker, the problem with the possible day length occurs when the time zone is not set correctly in the solar setup, max solar for time of day....
