Based on the pricing of a similar product (Expression Graphic Designer) at Microsoft, and a web page at amazon that probably was put up too soon, it looks like Expression Web's suggested price will be $299 (full retail), and $99 if you are upgrading from FrontPage (and probably for Visual Studio users as well). Price has not been officially released, so this might change before MS makes it official.

Once again, they think their stuff is worth a lot more than it should be.

If only they realised that if they sold stuff at a realistic price, it'd possibly squash 60% of their products piracy. Just look at the price of Win XP home full version, over here the last time I looked it was somewhere around the $AUD450 mark, or for that matter the OEM version floats between $130 and $170. If, and I doubt it'll ever happen, the full retail version was sold at $99 and the OEM went for say $49, then how many would bother to pirate them? :)

Full of wishful thinking, ain't I ? :)

Price doesn't really matter. Shareware is generally cheap by comparison to similar commercial products. How many people pay for shareware unless forced to by expiry of the product?  I wonder how many forum users are using shareware that they 'forgot' to pay for. The fact that shareware authors have had to build in product expiry code suggests that a lot of people don't pay for the software.

I thought it was supposed to be comparable to dreamweaver, which would make it lower priced than its competition.

I wonder why people think that Windows is so expensive when a boxed version of Linux can be anywhere from $60 to $100? That is "free" software put on a CD and in a package with a little bit of on-line or phone support. Heck, Mac OS-X is nothing more then FreeBSD with a fancy GUI and it costs well over a 100 bucks. Considering Linux was written mostly at no cost and only modified slightly by the vendor, the premium that windows cost seems it would be hard for them to cover their overhead.
