Internet files to web
« on: September 28, 2006, 06:08:19 PM »
I have placed the sunmoonimage.jpg on a web site I've made using a different editor and have tried to get it to upload from WD to this file on my web page at an interval. Can someone please tell me what to set on what page in the control panel to do this. I wish to only have this image and maybe moondetail1, be the only images to upload to the website. I seem to be able to upload manually by using the upload file now button under internet file creations and uploads and then clicking file #35 and uploading. No intervals though and I've set it for 5 minutes.
FTP WD works for WXUnderground and CWOP, but this is giving me greif.

The advanced internet settings is probably your best bet...it's the best way to control WD uploads.  Be advised that once you click the override button you must specify all files to be uploaded as WD will no longer handle these for you.

Do you need detailed step-by-step instructions?

If not, you need to set both create and upload schedules and enable both.  Then on the main advanced internet setup screen you click on the override button and make it green.  You file should now be created and uploaded per the schedule you set.

Thanks Dan, I'll give that a try. Another queston. In the advanced internet settings for the ftp site, do I need to enter the ftp:// or go without and just start it www. I'm sure the way things are going I'll probably bother you a little more b4 I get this flying through hoops.

You need to set up your internet connection in "ftp and metar" in the control panel using the connections tab. Make sure you turn the internet switch on. You will not need to setup internet connections in the Advanced settings page which is used to control when files are created and uploaded.

Ok guys, Iwent to FTP/Meta tab/connections and entered my ftp host site (webpage host) used their address starting with ftp://www1.etc, put in the remote directory also. Switch has been on since I upload to CWOP and WU.
I also beleive I need to use the advanced settings because I wish to choose which file gets uploaded and when. Under General FTP functions, what needs to be checked, filled or unchecked there? Again, I just wish to send the current sunmoonimage.jpg to my website. I checked the html on the page and the image file is also sunmoonimage. jpg as it should be. http://www.lutheransonline.com/newfanestjohn/weather
I can upload manually from the advanced settings.

In the Advanced settings you will set up the times at which the file(s) are to be created and uploaded. Make certain the switch is set to on for each file. You need to do this for each file you wish to create and upload.
If you use the Advanced Settings you do not need to use the "greneral ftp settings" page.

Well, Ive tried every which way but loose. It just doesn't show up on the page as a refreshed image.
Something somewhere in one of the setup pages isn't set right. I've done all the suggetions above backward and forward. Still must have something checked when something isn't supposed to be etc.
I have a headache. I may as well go back to inserting weather undergrounds sun moon sticker on the page, it's a lot simpler.
NorCalDan if you think you can get me through the hoops with a step by step, I'm willing if you are.

Ashford, I am willing but I work weekends, and, on top of that I am hosting my company picnic at my house this Saturday so not much time to write a step-by-step.  There are a lot of knowledgeable folks here who can help you get this setup so please continue to work with them.  If you don't get it working by Monday I will write a step-by-step for you.
