New graphics on NOAA?
« on: September 14, 2006, 12:39:30 AM »
I guess there are a few NOAA graphics that I don't have. The nshraXX series, for one.  I recall downloading a zip file for those, but I must be missing a few.  Does anyone know a source or else a direct path to them at NOAA so I can leech them?  (assuming that's still legal)  Thanks

I have the same issue.  All of a sudden I am missing some graphics.  Apparently NOAA must have created some new graphics.  I believe it has to do with 'slight chance of showers' because I get that red x and those words (or parts of those words).  So, its not that I am all of a sudden missing some graphics, I think new graphics were added.  Is that link inclusive of graphics that must have been added within the past week or so?

Wow.  Yet again!  I'm guessing there isn't another way to do this or you would have done it already!  I'd even be willing to pay for this (well, a little anyway) if there were, but it seems like you can link to some services, but not use the forecast on your own page.  Oh well...

What I meant was that I use your (I think) php script to download forecasts from NOAA/NWS.  I've had to change it a few times because they (NWS) keep changing their page and the script is basically a screen scraper.  Now, we've got to get the missing icons.  I would love to get the forecast another way - a way which was a bit more stable.  I would be willing to pay for this (a little!).  Short of that and the zip file which was once available, I need the file structure containing the directory containing the icons, so that I can leech it, or otherwise get the entire collection.

I would love to be working on making part of my page AJAX, or else trying out your neat lightning thing, but instead I have to fix the icons, then the web cam stuff, etc...  Oh well!  At least it's there for later!  Thanks for all you do!

The icons have not changed significantly since I wrote the script (I can't remember but this may be the first added set).

The NOAA page itself has had only one significant change in two years.

Looking at the dates in the zip that Tom has so kindly provided it appears there have been two updates this year, April and September, so that's not unreasonable.

WxSim is doing a decent job of creating my forecasts.  Have you considered that option?  You could make your own forecast for your specific location and forget about the NWS forecasts.

I've been playing around with WxSim and thinking the same thing.  Problem is that I would have to do that every day and I much prefer having the thing run on its own.  Thanks.

WxSim can run automated...albeit without ready data.

Why not just re-upload the set?

For some reason, this message just appeared here.  That is the answer!  Thank you.
