It's standard radio shack mast, I think it's inch and a quarter. I had to use a piece of 2x4 to mount the dome to the pipe. Should be okay until I get the tower, and yes, the towers are well built and sturdy. I don't want to climb thats why I am going with the crank up mast.

As the crow flies, probably about 1.75 miles. Town is about the same distance, maybe a tad more.
