Correct in my area also...NWS has no idea what I need (even after giving them the abbreviations) to get started.

its based on a Canadian system....which is why it might not be so well known by the NWS
there is also the chandler burning index calculated by wd...

I just put the default values that where in the one site in the settings, and see what it does from there. before i add a link to the page. I keep an eye on the NWS fire information which they list the Keetch-Byram Drought Index, Which right now shows us in white that shows us < 300 after putting the default values of ffmc 85, dmc 2 and dc of 5 it now shows:
Yesterdays values
FFMC     DMC     DC    ISI       BUI      FWI
85.0      2       5    0.0       0        0.0
Todays values
FFMC     DMC     DC    ISI       BUI      FWI
84.3      2       9    2.0       3        0.7

so yesterdays values get set to the default.

Keetch-Byram Drought Index
I have it in WD in the FWI were you can manualy update that index
but I need to finish off making it auto update...been so long since I last looked at that routine, will have to blow the cobwebs off it...i think sloweather gave me the info originaly....would have to find that again...

Well using the defaults that where listed on the Canada site is what i placed in there, and looking at the figures today showing low and the Keetch-Byram Drought Index is also showing low. but to early to call on that one!

note that with the FWI, each parameter is just as usefull as the other, and the final FWI needs to be looked at in conjunction with the other numbers
the DC has a big effect....which only builds up slowly (as you dont get rain)

I've also added a Fire Weather Index page on my homepage.

http://www.berdalweather.net/wxfireweather.php

Trying to get it to autoupload, didn't do so today so I now set it to autoupload in File Creation / Upload page. And I ticked the Upload in View -> Fire Weather page.
Gonna see tomorrow.

The values above the graph are fetched from the Fire Weather tags in testtags.php. They do seem to get updated every time the testtags.php is updated,
though Brian said that these values are only calculated every day at 13:00 ?

Best Regards,
Martin

Hi all,  I cannot locate a fwigraph.jpg or fwigraph.bmp file in my copy of WD 10.37j build 06 for Mac. Is there a file out there I can download?
Thanks,
Paul

it is updated auto at noon or 1pm by WD as long as you have the switch on under view, FWI
note that from version 10.37M build 8 the FWI is now calculated correctly by WD

I just noticed something now that the values are getting correctly measured (apart from my false rain gauge problem where I've bought my now 5th rain gauge). The DMC is 139.6 which is over 100 which is the highest that the FWI graph goes too for that figure. Should that not also adjust like the other figures too?
