hi all ...

just made a brand new "naked" installation of wd 10.31f, made the ftp-settings and a few things needed. clientraw real time works but ftp upload doesn't. no webcam, no metars, nothing special set. and i'm getting this in the program error log:

seems that this error occures every minute. manual upload of the files works, but ftpuload does not work ...

please help me! my weather page looks horrible without data ... using davis vantage pro 2, windows 2000 sp4.

Hi,
same here.

10.31f worked for 3 days without a porblem.
Suddenly today WD stopped uploading data. Manual upload is working.
In the prog error log are the same errors reported as mentioned in that thread before.

Might not help, but have you tried the debug version to see if it captures any errors?  I get those errors also but it doesn't seem to effect WD as it continues to upload.  Running 10.31c here...

yes, i just installed the debug version and send the errors via smtp. hope it helps and brian has any solution. i tried several different versions (exe-files) of wd 10.30k, 10.30o and others by changing only the exe-file. same errors every time. maybe the problem is not wd itself. maybe its ftpupd.exe?? i don't know ...

update: that wasn't the right clue. even with ftpupd.exe from 10.30n the same problems. must be something else ...

I'm having problems with the ftpupd.exe version (7.94) that is with WD 10.31f. I'm now using a very reliable older version of ftpupd.exe...version 7.87. The ftpupd.exe version you tried that's with 10.30n....is the same ftpupd.exe version (7.94) that's with 10.31f. So you need to try an older version. I've placed a copy of ftpupd.exe version 7.87 on my web server for you to download and try , if you like.
UPDATE:Sorry....the ftpupd.exe version that is with 10.30n is version 7.92. My bad! :oops: But just to be sure, you could still try ftpupd.exe 7.87

i'm currently running wd 10.28z with ftpupd 7.81. it's fine for me and everything works great at the moment. this can't be a solution for the future but for now its ok. i guess you're right and we'll have to wait til brian is back before we can start another try.

thx for your help. i didn't try the 7.87 yet because i'm glad wd works for the moment. never change a running system ...  :D

that particular error seems to be occuring with the VP forecast icon setting a snow icon
the code looks OK, thats the only clue i have

I've been having a problem too. My system has been solid for over a year and I started getting crashes. I did a complete wipe and re-install of windows, and it was still occuring. Sometimes wd would just drop out, sometimes windows itself would crash. Never ran for more than about a half hour. I kept checking things until finally I turned of the main internet switch and WD (& windows) have been up for 3 days now.
 
The only thing I'm getting in the error log is at the 12am reset, it's saying "invalid data type for 'bias'" and "invalid data type for 'active timebias'"

On the chance it's a hardware problem I have a new motherboard, serial card, & video card coming, should be here any day now. After I put together a new computer for WD, I'm hoping the crashes will go away because I really think it's a hardware problem that WD is somehow aggravating. But I DID find it interisting that the system became stable when I turned the main internet switch off.

that particular error occurs with win 98 and the new auto detect the time zone
but i now have it where it should not do that if windows 98 is in use...
which windows version are you using jeep, and which version of WD?

I was using 10.31f where I was seeing that. I'm now using 10.31c debug and still getting it. But, I turned the main internet switch back on and it's been running for 12+ hours now.
I was running on Win Xp, but with all the crashes I thought maybe a less hardware intensive version of windows would work better so when I re-installed I put on win98se.

It's amazing how FAST win98 is running on a Athlon XP 2400+ processor.  8O
