sunshine hours
« on: November 10, 2005, 04:31:31 AM »
of late...  I am getting no hours of sunshine reported, but of course from the graphs, there is considerable sun shine.   I am beginning to wonder if that with the VP sensors and the setup, because of the sun angle,  although the light is being recorded somehow ... well are there settings to correct this?

I am refering that the sky was clear and there was definitely sun, but none is being reported.  I have the last version
VP2, Daytime Fars, Solar/UV; Soil station; extra temp/humid station; extra temp stations; Windows 7, 8G Ram , 1TB drive/external and Windows xp for weather data.

check what the solar % is in the control panel, solar setup
which is derived from your actual reading compared to the max for lat/long time of day
also check you dont still have dayliight saving ticked or similar

By my guestimate that should be showing about 61% in the CURRENT % READING not zero.

The options in your setup are a lot different to the same page on my WD.

Your Longitude is -ve and should be +ve, also the timezone should be  +ve as well as you are WEST of Greenwich...... I know it is backwards compared to other settings but that was the way the calc worked!

With the Latitude set wrong WD will think you are on the part of the world where it is still dark.

I have noticed that for about the last 20 days or so that I am not reporting any sunshine hours either. I'm running 10.30i, using a 1-wire solar sensor.

ardvark, you have a vp solar, yes?
so thats nothing in commen with a 1 wire solar
i have a vp with solar and its recording sunshine hours OK
try ticking, use that new calculation (as long as you have the time zone set correctly)

caddy, can you post your solar setup screen
as there are things you need to do with a 1 wire solar

if you can, and maybe in the weekend, see what the max solar radiation for time of day and lat /long is reporting
what i need to do i guess is produce a table of what your settings will produce throught out the day for the max solar reading for lat/long and time of day so then you will know when you have it correct (in relation to your sunrise and set times)
that will help out alot
i will do that

Here are some some screen shots. As you can see the 1-wire sensor is working.

Thanks Brian.

P.S. If you notice the temp on the left of the Main Screen I am still having problems trying to get my stand-alone 1-wire temp sensor to be the main station temp sensor. I'll post more on this in the bug reports.
