Flash Lite v3.0 & MML/WDL PDF Print E-mail

I upgraded the firmware on my Nokia E71 phone yesterday. The new firmware came with a new version of Flash Lite (v3.0), so I thought I'd see if MesoMap Live (MML) and Weather Display Live (WDL) would work. Surprisingly both of them did. It was far from perfect, but with Flash Lite v2.0 they wouldn't work at all.

With MML I could see the map, and animated stations. Obviously on a small screen there was a lot of scrolling needed to see much. I coouldn't find the right hand station display panel, but that may have been a scrolling problem. I can see instruments inWDL, although not all of them work. The data values are displayed though. Again, WDL needed a lot of scrolling. However, I was surprised to see either piece of software working at all!

I've finished loading the African and Asian locations for the current weather and forecasts system, so you should hopefully now be able find a location somewhere nearby to set as your personal location.

You can now view current conditions and 5-day forecasts for your own location or any of tens of thousands of locations worldwide by using the 'Your Weather and Forecast' menu item. The data is provided by The Weather Channel ® (weather.com ®)

I'm still installing locations, which is a little labourious with the component I'm using, so you won't currently find any African or Asian locations available. Those will be added as soon as I work my way through the installation process.

If you like a page or article on Weather-Watch.com you can now use the icons under the left-hand menu to add a link to it on your favourite social bookmark sites, e.g. Digg, Delicious, etc. There are more social bookmark sites that I can add, but for now I've added most of the ones I've heard of. If you have a favourite bookmarking site that isn't avaiable, please let me know, because I may be able to add it.

Two new menu items have been added which link to a directory of weather maps and weather stations. The weather maps are all generated using the Weather-Watch MesoMap Live (MML) service and the stations are Weather Display stations providing data to the MML service. The maps and stations are listed by country (or continent for some maps).
